Presets FAQ

General Questions

What are Lightroom presets?
Lightroom presets are pre-saved editing settings that allow you to apply a consistent look to your photos with just one click. They adjust colors, tones, contrast, and other image settings to enhance your pictures.

What is a .DNG file, and why is it used for presets?
A .DNG file (Digital Negative) is a RAW image format that retains all the editing adjustments. In Lightroom Mobile, .DNG files are used to store presets because they allow users to copy and paste settings onto their own photos.

Do I need a paid Adobe Lightroom subscription to use these presets?
No! You can use .DNG presets with the free version of Adobe Lightroom Mobile—no paid subscription required.

1. Locate the Downloaded Preset File

  • Open the Files app.
  • Tap Browse at the bottom, then go to On My iPhone > Downloads (default location for Safari downloads).
  • Look for the DNG file (it may not have a preview thumbnail).

2. Move the DNG File to the Photos App

  • Tap and hold the DNG file until a menu appears.
  • Select Share.
  • Choose Save Image (this moves the file to the Photos app).
  • From there you can import to Lightroom to start editing!

My presets look different on my photos—why?
Presets are a starting point, and their effect can vary depending on the lighting, colors, and exposure of your original image. You may need to adjust settings like exposure, white balance, and shadows to get the perfect look.

Are these presets compatible with all devices?
