GETTING GLAM in my thirties IS SIMPLER, QUICKER AND looks like me.

I have always valued getting ready as a vital part of my wellness routine. Before I even understood wellness as a concept, I knew that to truly feel my best, the first step is feeling that I look my best. Feeling as though I am showing up in the world putting my best foot forward…something about that has always resonated with me as a wellness essential. So I have always made sure that my getting ready routine is sacred, and have tried my best to not compromise on that part of my morning.

Even after giving birth to my daughters, I told my husband that no matter what, I just needed 10 minutes each morning. 10 minutes to dedicate to looking and thus feeling my best. And he lovingly ensured that I never wavered on that commitment.

When I say 10 minutes, truly, I’ve gotten it down to a science and can have a full face on in 10 minutes if needed. Ideally, I’d love 30 minutes to do my hair and makeup. 45 if I’m getting fully glam. And now that I’ve simplified my routine enough to accomplish a radiant, fresh face look quickly and efficiently, I think it’s time to share with you, my friend.

As a 33 year old mother of 2 toddlers, I have curated a list of essentials that accommodates all ages and the hectic reality of mom-life. So multifunctional products? I got you.

Let’s dive in.

#1: SKIP THE CONTOUR

When simplifying your everyday makeup routine, skip the contour. Bronzer is the way to go for me, always. On glam days, absolutely sculpt and tuck and do all of the magical things that contour can accomplish. But on a daily basis? Ditch the contour, and reach for a bronzer stick.Lean on the warmth, not the sculpt.

#2: MULTI-USE PRODUCTS, ALWAYS

Listen, I love eyeshadow as much as the next person. But on a day-to-day basis, I take the same creamy brown contour stick and swipe it messily on my lids. And guess what? No matter how sloppy I apply it, it looks great every time. Because it’s a cream product, in a neutral tone, that blends like butter. Products that serve multiple functions are what cut my makeup application time in half. Now when I have more time, I’m reaching for the subtle shimmers and golden tones.

#3: BYE, BYE FALSIES!

I can’t tell you the last time I wore false lashes or eyelash extensions. Instead, I incorporated a lash growth serum into my nightly routine, let time do its thing, and now coat my fuller lashes with my go-to mascara. This is more of a time commitment, but absolutely worth it in the long run and will make the absence of false lashes/extensions in your daily routine feel less and less jarring. As “no mascara” makeup trends become more and more popular, a simpler and cleaner eye look has only become even more attractive and a symbol of a radiant, fresh face.

#4: FIND YOUR SIGNATURE LIP COMBO & STICK WITH IT!

I rarely experiment with my lip combos because once I’ve found one I like, I stay loyal to it. I think it just takes one more decision off my list right at the start of the day. I finally found the lip liner of my dreams and paired it with the best, affordable liquid lipstickand the color combo compliments my complexion perfectly. The trick to keep my lip look lasting all day? Believe it or not — lip gloss. But not just any lip gloss. This specific glossis budge-proof and never feels thick or heavy or sticky.

#5: CREAM PRODUCTS ARE YOUR FRIEND

Be loyal to your ultimate beauty besties, because they will never disappoint. Cream products are the most dependable products in my makeup bag for a reason. With a heavy or light hand, no matter the rhyme or rhythm, when I apply cream blushes, bronzers and highlighters,I find that everything blends together seamlessly, reducing the need for precise application.

#6: LESS IS MORE, BUT MORE CAN ALSO BE MORE.

Growing up, I always heard the saying “less is more.” And while in many ways that’s true, the reverse is also equally important to remember. In some instances, less is definitely more when it comes to makeup. I use way less foundationthan I did in my 20s, which makes my skin appear less caked, heavy and textured. However, I lather on multiple prep products, from eye cream,  serums,  moisturizers and primers before applying my complexion products - a step I typically skipped when I was younger. By taking those extra steps, I end up needing less product and ultimately looking more radiant and youthful. The same can be said about my lashes. Because I added a step of using lash growth serumdaily before bed, my lashes appear fuller and darker leading to less use of mascara and removing the need for falsies or lash extensions entirely. More steps, sure. But the results? Absolutely worth it.

And that’s my roundup of how I simplified my makeup routine in my 30s.

Getting glam has never felt more intuitive, and I’ve never felt more like me.
